Prof. JUDr. Zdeněk Češka, CSc.Prof Češka specialises in civil law and civil procedure. He is an internationally recognised expert in civil law and a widely respected counsel in court and arbitration proceedings. At the beginning of his professional career Prof Češka started to teach at Charles University’s Fa­culty of Law in Prague, at which he also served as Vice-Dean (1964 – 1967) and later Dean (1969 – 1973). After the end of his term of office at the Faculty of Law he attained the most prominent offices at Charles University: he was its Vice-Rector (1973 – 1976) and then, for 14 years, Rector (1976 – 1990). Since 1991 Prof Češka has practised the legal profession. In 1993 he became a partner of CÍSAŘ, ČEŠKA, SMUTNÝ a spol., and remains a partner to this day. His practice at the bar mainly focuses on adversarial civil proceedings. Among other things, Prof Češka has contributed to the drafting of the Rules of Civil Procedure; he is the author or co-author of a number of technical books, and of commentary on the Rules of Civil Procedure and also on the law on bankruptcy, winding-up and composition.
