Dr Pavel Smutný

Partner

JUDr. Pavel SmutnýAn experienced barrister and solicitor, Dr Pavel Smutný specialises in commercial law and international investment relations. In addition to his legal practice he is publicly active at the European level; he is involved in the public debate on the fostering of the legal environment in the Czech Republic and is also actively engaged in efforts aimed at the preservation of European cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible. Dr Pavel Smutný is, inter alia, President of Kruh přátel Opery Národního divadla [Friends of the National Theatre Opera], President of the Czech Israeli Chamber of Commerce and member of several other international chambers of commerce and on the Board of the FEDORA Federation of Opera Friends Associations.

However, Dr Pavel Smutný’s activities extend far beyond merely pursuing his own practice at the bar; in his public appearances he courageously criticises practices that are either directly in conflict with the law, or circumvent the law, thereby helping to consolidate citizen’s legal awareness with regard to general justice. He is a long-standing guest of TV NOVA’s Střepiny news reporting show, where he comments on and analyses political and legal developments both in and outside the Czech Republic.
